Rulebook: Laminated Paper
Hacker Ship: Laser-Cut
Game Summary
In the not too distant future, you and your hacker clan stumble upon a major secret. Your residential megacorp has secret plans that would allow them to take control of the government, no, the world! There isn't much time to plan an assault, but you need to expose the megacorp before it's too late. Other clans have also stumbled upon the trail and have sent their own hackers into the fray. The megacorp isn't going to take this sitting down however, and a specialist has been assigned to take control of their anti-virus software. Board your ship and cross the Cyberspace Sea to bring these secret files to light or manage the protocols to defend the megacorp. Everything will be resolved between these Cyberspace Pirates.
Secret File Stand: 3D Printed
Hack & Core Tokens: Laser Cut
Developer Commentary
Cyberspace Pirates is an asymmetric game prototype designed for two to five players. One player is a Defender, and the others are Hackers. The Hackers need to use hacking techniques and gear cards to destroy the defense cores and get the file. The Defender gets to pilot a series of anti-virus drones to sink the Hackers before the file is taken.
The prototype of the game is fully functional, including the game pieces, rulebook, and game board.
The game board, Hacker ships, Hacking tokens, and damage tokens were made from laser-cut wood. The board itself is so large that it required being split into four different pieces put together.
The cards and rulebook were made from laminated paper rather than cardstock. The playing pieces and the secret file piece were 3D printed, reflecting how the game pieces would actually appear.
